So, I bravely resisted the pull of the bar on friday night, at not one, but 3 potential all nighters in order to be pushing a rubberduck into the Umkomaas river before dawn. ( I really think I should re-evaluate my decision-making paradigm)
Zack, Burnsie and myself head out to Green Point on HMS Dirty Harry. Zack did a picture perfect launch, I dont think I saw a smile as wide as that all day.
It was a quiet day on the fish, the only “reel” excitement coming when burnsie dive bombed off the boat and literally sat on a snoek and killed it. Being Top Man, you man the boat while the others dive, which means reading the paper out on the water, sun on your back is something quiet special! Its all very Zen.
Heading back to Umgabba, we happened upon a pod of Dolfyne, and it was mask on, and in… swimming with wild dolphins. I used the trusty patented “Smithycall” and they all promptly #!$#^ off. Ah well.
On the way home we stopped for a cheeky Hansa quart, only R7.80, which was an experience in itself, you dont expect a LSM 3 shebeen to have a full DSTV and LCD TV set up.
All in all a great day out, learnt a lot, and still have a rope to untangle.
